Building a Home

Lately, when I write, I first watch this ice dance by Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron. It is perfection. It deeply inspires me to lyrically build a home for myself and my readers out of my words. I aim to write gently, fluidly, gracefully, (usually without so many adverbs!), and create a dream-like quality that whispers and then shouts in its building crescendo, only to bring us back down to earth again, with softness and wonder. I don’t think I will ever achieve the stunning artistry and beauty of this dance, but I will try. I will try to strike a chord with those who enter this home, this world I’ve built. I will try to do this forever.
